Fralock understands that the medical industry continually evolves with new materials and technologies to enhance patient care, medical device performance, and overall healthcare efficiency. Our diverse components, assemblies, and innovation can help you stay ahead by providing custom advanced material solutions that ensure precision, reliability, and compliance.

Specialty Engineered Material Components

Whether you need parts for medical electronics, wearables, advanced would care, or biocompatible tapes/adhesives, Fralock can provide specialty materials components that fit your stringent requirements.

We specialize in manufacturing precision die-cut and laser-cut components using advanced materials for thermal and electrical insulation, and EMI/RFI shielding. We also provide custom tapes and adhesives, as well as custom laminations, to meet the unique demands of our customers’ applications.

  • Foil-Based Laminates: Foil-based laminates provide shielding and insulation in medical electronics, such as implantable devices and diagnostic equipment. They help prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensuring the accuracy and reliability of medical devices.
  • Thermally Conductive Silicones & Elastomers: These materials are critical for managing heat in seals, gaskets, implantable devices, medical tubing, electronic packaging, imaging devices, and surgical tools. They provide flexibility, durability, and efficient heat dissipation to ensure the longevity and safety of electronic medical components.
  • Kapton®-Based Materials: Kapton® polyimide films and tapes are used in medical sensors, and flexible printed circuits (FPCs), due to their thermal resistance, chemical stability, and electrical insulation properties.
  • Engineered Release Liners: Essential for wound care dressings, transdermal drug delivery patches, sensors, and surgical adhesives, custom-engineered release liners provide safe and efficient application of adhesive products.
  • Adhesives: Medical-grade adhesives are vital in wound care, wearable sensors, and medical device assembly. They offer strong bonding while being biocompatible and skin-friendly for patient applications.

Flexible Circuits

We manufacture a wide variety of flex and rigid-flex circuit solutions tailored to your requirements. We also offer assembly to streamline your manufacturing time and costs.

We offer both adhesive bonding and adhesiveless bonding with our Adhesiveless Lamination Technology (ALT)TM for applications requiring extremely high durability or exposure temperature extremes ( -269°C to 250°C / -452°F to 482°F) or chemicals. These products can withstand autoclave sterilization.

Heaters

Fralock offers two types of heating technologies for a variety of medical and life science needs: flexible polyimide heaters and ceramic heaters.

Flexible Polyimide Heaters

Our heaters provide solutions for applications requiring low profile, flexibility, durability, and/or low mass. Multiple heating zones are available when precision control is needed.

Applications include: immunoassay analyzers, liquid and gas warming, pathogen detection, and optics defogging.

Both Adhesiveless Lamination Technology (ALT)TM and adhesive-based bonding are available.

Aluminum Nitride (AlN) Ceramic Heaters

Ceramic heaters provide rapid, precise, and uniform heating, making them essential for applications requiring controlled thermal management. Fralock capabilities include a multi-layer structure for high watt density and temperatures, and heating zones for precision control. Their key uses in medical applications include:

  • Analytical and Diagnostic Equipment: Provides rapid thermal cycling, maintains stable temperatures for lab equipment such as DNA amplifiers, PCR machines, and blood analyzers.
  • Tissue fusion and ablation instruments
  • Packaging and Sealing

Structural Ceramics

Fralock offers engineered ceramic components for several medical applications including:

  • X-Ray imaging applications
  • Ceramic electrodes and electrode holders for mass spectrometers
  • Blood analysis machines
  • Surgical tools and endoscopic components
  • Corrosion-resistant hermetically sealed feedthroughs and other components
  • Hermetic dielectric packages for sensors
  • Wear-resistant ceramic fluid dispensing nozzles and fluid atomizers
  • Medical pump and valve components
  • Other high-precision fluid-handling components
Innovative materials continue to drive advancements in medical technology, ensuring better patient outcomes, device reliability, and enhanced performance. Leveraging biocompatibility and thermal management with precision engineering and advanced structural ceramic components, these materials are shaping the future of healthcare.
